Growth Hormone

Growth hormone (GH or HGH), also known as somatotropin or somatropin, is a peptide hormone that stimulates growth, cell reproduction and regeneration in humans and other animals. It is a type of mitogen which is specific only to certain kinds of cells.

Specimen: Serum

Reference Values: 0.06-5 ng/ml

Method: CLIA

Gentamycin Level

Gentamicin is an antibiotic administered to treat severe blood infections caused by gram-negative bacilli.

Specimen: Serum

Reference Values:

Therapeutic Range: 1-2 mg/l
Toxic Range: >2 mg/l

Method:

Loinc: 35668-3

GGT-Gamma Glutamyl Transferase

Gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) is primarily present in kidney, liver, and pancreatic cells. Even though renal tissue has the highest level of GGT, the enzyme present in the serum appears to originate primarily from the hepatobiliary system, and GGT activity is elevated in any and all forms of liver disease.

Specimen: Serum

Reference Values:

Females: 12-43 U/l
Males: 15-73 U/l
1-3 Years Old: 5-16 U/l
4-6 Years Old: 8-18 U/l
7-9 Years Old: 11-21 U/l
10-11 Years Old: 14-25 U/l

Method: Colorimetric/Enzymatic

Loinc: 2324-2

Gliadin IgA Antibodies

This antibody is found in ~80% of patients with coeliac disease. It is directed against the alpha/beta and gamma (α,β,γ) gliadins. It is also found in a number of patients who are not enteropathic. Some of these patients may have neuropathies that respond favorably to a gluten elimination diet. This is referred to as gluten-sensitive idiopathic neuropathy.

Specimen: 0.2 ml Serum

Reference Values:

Negative: <12 U/ml
Equivocal: 12-18 U/ml
Positive: >18 U/ml

Method: CLIA

Loinc: 6924-5

Gliadin IgG Antibodies

The IgG antibody is similar to AGA IgA, but is found at higher levels in patients with the IgA-less phenotype. It is also associated with coeliac disease and idiopathic gluten sensitivity.

Specimen: 0.2 ml Serum

Reference Values:

Negative: <12 U/ml
Equivocal: 12-18 U/ml
Positive: >18 U/ml

Method: CLIA

Loinc: 16902-9

Glucose

A blood glucose test measures the amount of a type of sugar, called glucose, in your blood. Glucose comes from carbohydrate foods. It is the main source of energy used by the body.

Specimen: Serum

Reference Values:

Females: 65-105 mg/dl
Males: 75-110 mg/dl
(Based on a Fasting State)

Method:Glucose Oxidase

Loinc: 2345-7

G6PD (Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase)

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD deficiency) also known as favism is an X-linked recessive genetic condition that predisposes to hemolysis and resultant jaundice in response to a number of triggers, such as certain foods, illness, or medication.

Specimen: EDTA

Reference Values: >120 U/L

Method: Enzymatic
